55. Buses exported in SKD mode — what is SKD?
SKD (Semi Knocked Down, semi-disassembly)
Done in China: body welding + painting (cab/side panels/roof welded into a body-in-white and painted), powertrain (motor/electric drive axle), chassis frame, and front/rear axles usually pre-assembled as assembly units.
Shipped separately: wheels, seats, interior, lamps, glass, and some harnesses and pipes.
The overseas plant only: mates body to chassis, installs interior, wheels, glass and lamps, and performs adjustment and off-line — no welding, no painting shop.
Disassembly level approx. 30%–50%, lower localization rate
